The American Bank was established in 1917 in Baxter Springs Kansas and expanded services with a new branch in Columbus in April, 1999 and Galena in July, 2003.

The Board of Directors is led by Chairman L.C. Neel, a Native American. American Bank is nationally recognized as a minority bank. A member of the National bankers Association, American Bank is one of only a handful of Minority Banks owned by Native Americans. American Bank sees diversity as an opportunity for inclusion.
