Welcome to Pet Talk!
We are very excited about launching our new "
Pet Talk Page”. The animals we keep in our homes are our
friends and companions, a part of our family and a special part of our lives. Our goal for our new “Pet Talk Page” on fourstateshomepage.com will be twofold: to provide information and fun for the pet
owner and to serve as an advocate for the area humane societies / rescue
facilities.

Joplin Humane Society
Give Them A Chance - Capital CampaignFor well over half a century the Joplin Humane Society has worked tirelessly serving its mission
"to promote the humane care and protection of all animals, especially those abandoned, neglected and abused; and to prevent cruelty and suffering of all animals". Whether addressing animal needs or focusing on the role of educating the community on all aspects of responsible pet ownership, the Joplin Humane Society has been and will continue to be an integral part of the overall quality of life in this area. We encourage everyone to become a member of the Humane Society family and partner in our efforts to build a new animal shelter.
As our service area continues to expand, the Joplin Humane Society has assumed responsibility for the care of approximately
10,000 pets each year. The current shelter designed originally to handle
2,000 animals shows the signs of over 40 years of service, including worn conditions that create multiple hazards. Now the time has come to look beyond our current facility and plan for construction of a new state of the art animal shelter that we can be proud of and more importantly provide a better temporary home for the animals.
We now turn to you requesting your support as we strive to
"Give Them A Chance".

Why Spay or Neuter?
Why spay or neuter your pet?
Spaying is a general term used to describe the ovariohysterectomy of a female animal. Neutering
is a general term used to describe the castration of a male animal.
However, neutering is used in reference to both genders. The surgical
procedure, performed by a veterinarian, renders the animal incapable of
reproducing. Here are answers to some questions you may have about this
beneficial procedure.

Pet overpopulation is a tragic problem. Each year, hundreds of
animals in shelters must be euthanized because good homes could not be
found for them.
Many people who breed their pets believe they aren't adding to the
pet overpopulation problem if they find good homes for all
their puppies or kittens. But consider this:
