A four state woman who is a ten year survivor of breast cancer made a choice that has changed her life. It's wasn't a quick decision, but one that has helped her smile a little more and put a spring in her step. Lisa Holden has dedicated her life to helping others.
Today she's helping Tennyson, part of her job as a Freeman home health nurse. While she's helped other freeman patients for 22 years, a year ago she did something to help herself. Lisa is a 10 year breast cancer survivor during her battle she underwent 2 mastectomies. Last year she made the decision to have a tram. It's a tissue flap procedure that uses stomach muscle tissue to create a breast mound.
The surgery and recovery were difficult, but Lisa was prepared both mentally and emotionally. As a strong women's advocate, Lisa encourages women to pay close attention to their own health. For women in her situation thinking about a tram. she has this advice. And, for someone who so clearly cares about others, the procedure has only added happiness to lisa's life. If you would like to sign up for buddy check 16, you'll receive a free packet with reminders for doing your self breast exams, and other information. We also have some packets you can pick up at our station
