More than 14,000 customers of Empire District Electric are without power tonight as a result of today’s storms.

  A spokeswoman with Empire District says residents without power are located in Baxter Springs, Kansas, the Ottawa County area of Picher, Quapaw, and Commerce along with residents north of Neosho.

  As a precaution Empire representatives say you should stay away from any downed power lines.
