The city of Miami is filing a tort claim against the Grand River Dam authority. The suit seeks monetary damage to cover costs the city of Miami incurred during last summers flood. City leaders believe if the flood gates had been opened sooner the backwater effect wouldn't have been as severe. The city suffered two point seven million dollars in damage. Local businesses and homes were also damaged in the flood. Home and business owners will be eligible to file a claim. Larry Borek is the attorney representing the city. Borek will hold a public information meeting at 6 P.M. On Wednesday June 25th. The meeting will be held at the Miami Civic Center. |
