Reported by: Philip Mitchell Thursday, Jun 19, 2008 @05:38pm CDT New homes outside of the flood plain are a godsend for one Four State community.
The city of Miami Oklahoma broke ground on the first three homes this morning. The subdivision was created to give the victims of last summers flood and the Picher tornado, an opportunity to move into a new home for a reasonable price. Officials plan to build a total of 20 new homes. Brandi Garcia is one of the first three people to get into a new home. She says she is overjoyed to be purchasing a brand new home. Garcia has been in a FEMA trailer since last summer after her Miami home was flooded. Miami city officials says the first three homes will be complete in four months. |
