  • Tea Party Rallies at State Capitol against Big Governme...
    Reported by: KARK 4 News @ arkansasmatters.com

    Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @05:50pm CST

They've rallied already several times this year against what they say is big government spending.

And today, the Tea Party of Arkansas delivered a letter to Governor Mike Beebe.

They're praising him for not signing a letter that supports what the group calls "hasty passage of national health care legislation."

Just before that, the Tea Party rallied in the State Capitol rotunda to announce the start of what they're calling the "Campaign for Accountability."

It's a 365 day campaign to hold elected leaders and candidates accountable to Arkansas voters before the 2010 general election.

The Tea Party says their message is simple.

"If the person's character doesn't line up with the content of script, then there's something that we're obligated to do & that's not vote for them."

A spokesperson for Governor Beebe's office says Beebe is closely watching the federal debate on health care.

When a final bill is proposed, his office will look at what it provides versus what it costs.

His office adds the goal is to make sure every Arkansan has access to affordable health care.
