    Get Organized

    Organizing Shoes

Shoes can be a problem for any closet or bedroom. Unless organized properly, shoes can end up in a jumbled mess at the bottom of your closet, under your bed, or anywhere else in the house you happen to take them off.

1.Once you have assembled all the matched pairs you wish to keep, take a picture of each pair.

2.Divide your shoe pairs by season. Take the shoes that are not going to be used for the present season, and place each pair in a shoebox. Tape the picture of each pair to its respective shoebox and place the shoebox on a storage shelf making sure the picture is facing out so that you can see it.

3.Once you’ve separated the remaining shoes according to your chosen criteria, place them in the shoe organizer. There are all kinds of organizers you can choose that should fit your particular storage needs.

Does this happen in your home???
Things come in, but nothing EVER goes out! There is probably stuff in your home that has not been touched in YEARS.
Walk through the home and take notes of any thoughts and comments about each room: items to stay, things to go.
Start with perhaps the bedroom. This can become a catch all room for items. You will be surprised by how much stuff can be in such a little room that have not been using for a long time. Those items that are not useful anymore can be bagged up, boxed up and loaded into your car for donation. Quick sweep of the floor and the room looks bright and shiny. Continue on with the next room.
Keep in mind: If a new item comes into the home, an item must leave (2 if you want to gain ground on the clutter battle).
Sort through the clutter. Discard what's broken and donate or sell anything that you're not using.
Concentrate on reorganizing the stuff you want to keep. Group like things together. For example, store everything for auto repair in one area, sporting gear in another.
Use large stackable plastic bins for small items such as camping gear, craft supplies or hand tools. Buy lockable bins if they contain valuable or dangerous items.
Attach shelves or cabinets to your garage walls, or put up freestanding units. Store the heaviest items on the lowest shelves. If your garage is barely big enough for the car, hang shelves on all three walls above car-roof height.
Hang rakes, brooms, shovels, folding lawn chairs and other flat items on the walls.
Hang bikes on hooks from the ceiling along the side of the garage, or over the hood of your car. Install a floor-to-ceiling bike rack if you're storing bikes for the whole team.
Use plywood in the rafters and create a storage loft. Run a ladder up the wall into the loft for easy access.
Build a low storage platform that the hood of your car slides under if you're really pressed for space. Use it to stash stuff in what would otherwise be empty air (unless you're hanging your bikes there).
Consider erecting a metal, vinyl or wood shed if you have a yard. Then move tools, gardening supplies and the lawn mower out of the garage. Many home supply stores, such as Lowe's, offer ready-to-assemble kits.

    Organize Cabinets, Toolboxes

There are all sorts of drawer inserts beside utensil organizers to organize the drawers and cabinets. If you have a tool drawer use utensil inserts to keep them in order. There are several organizers for organizing your toolbox and also your hanging tools such as pegboard hooks, magnetic tool holders, etc.
There are racks for almost anything that does for cooking, pot lid rack, pots and pan rack, cookie sheet rack or pot and pan rack that hangs from the ceiling.
There are spice racks, aluminum foil, storage back and sandwich bag container racks.
If the trashcan is out in the open get a rack to fit in your cabinet to hide them.
