Reported by: Jessica Daley Monday, Aug 31, 2009 @03:49pm CDT Adults looking to improve their education or skills in this tough economy can now enroll in classes.
The Pittsburg Adult Education Center is hosting classes for people to earn their GED or to prepare for college.
The executive director said the center is a good resource for people wanting to make themselves more competitive in today's job market.
She said the economy has increased their enrollment numbers.
"Last semester we saw a surge in people who were in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, who had been employed, but lost their jobs," said Executive Director Karen Sooter. "They discovered they couldn't get a job without a high school diploma." Space is limited, if you're interested in signing up you can do so Tuesday at the new location 1600 North Walnut in Pittsburg.
