Reported by: Caitlin McArdle Tuesday, Oct 13, 2009 @04:52pm CDT On Saturday, the Carthage Crisis Center moved into the former Leggett and Platt building in Carthage, MO. The move was supposed to take place in August but was delayed to finish installing a new fire and sprinkler system. The new building offers residents 43,000 square feet of space, compared to 3,000 at the old center.
Executive Director Brian Bisbee says the move will allow the Crisis Center to help more members of the community. The new building can house 50 men, 8 women and 5 families, while the old facility could only house about 20 residents. The Carthage Crisis Center provides shelter for the homeless, as well as food for those in need. You can contact the Carthage Crisis Center by calling 417-358-3533. |
