Reported by: Jeremiah Cook Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @05:48pm CST JOPLIN, MO- Monday morning, officials announced a change in management at St. John's Regional Medical center.
The Sisters of Mercy Health System will now be responsible for operating the Joplin facility.
Representatives with St. John's say this move fills a gap in Mercy's health care system, which includes hospitals in Springfield, MO; northwest Arkansas; and southeast Kansas.
They say this will eventually allow St. John's access to experts and technology within the Mercy network.
Gary Pulsipher was also named as the new CEO and president at St. John's.
He will be holding a meeting with local community leaders in the next few weeks to help determine the health care needs of the area.
