Reported by: Jessica Daley Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @06:11pm CST The faculty at Missouri Southern State University says they have no confidence in the university's president Dr. Bruce Speck.
The vote is 140 faculty members saying they have no confidence in Speck to 44 members saying they do have confidence.
184 members voted out of the 237 eligible full time faculty. The vote comes after the faculty senate passed a no-confidence vote against Speck last month.
A faculty group cited 23 complaints against Speck describing what it calls failures of leadership and management.
The university's board of governors renewed Speck's contract in September. This vote is more of a symbolic action, as it doesn't have any direct consequences for Speck. Senate members say they don't know what the next step is at this time. They say they are now in uncharted territory. |
