Reported by: Caitlin McArdle Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @05:14pm CST The first-time home buyers tax credit program has been extended. Buyers now have through April 30 to purchase a home and until July 1 to close on it. First-time buyers will still receive the $8,000 credit. A new addition to the program will allow current home-owners to receive up to $6,500 if they purchase a home. The National Association of Realtors estimates the current tax credit has already contributed nearly $22 billion to the general economy.
