  • Dragons Fired Up For A Change
Dragons_Photo2008-03-03-1204559601.jpgStudents across the four states have taken their health into their own hands. And with the help of KSN’s Move it Challenge, sponsored by Southwest Missouri Bank and St. John's Regional Medical Center kids are even more enthusiastic about getting healthy.

Dragons fired up for a change. Its a perfect description of what these girls want to accomplish.

Fifteen sixth, seventh, and eighth graders from Pittsburg Community Middle School were chosen for a program meant to encourage emotional and physical health among young girls.

The group meets two to three times per week, and each session includes a workout and a discussion over various health topics ranging from skin care to exercise to healthy eating habits. Things that in the past, they didn't know much about But thanks to this year's program they're now able teach others a few things Organizer's say the program, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas encourages these girls to make changes towards a healthier lifestyle And the girls say they've already noticed a difference The girls also head to the Pittsburg YMCA once a week to take classes like water aerobics, Zumba and even kickboxing.
