Reported by: Mary Geisz ![]() ![]() I have 2 dogs I have adopted. One from the Joplin Humane Society in March of 2007. She is a Terrier mix and the best dog I have ever had. She was to be put to sleep on Monday and I got her on Saturday. She is the sweetest, most loving dog and I love her dearly. The other dog is Terrier/Dashaund and has some social issues when we got him. He was also rescued from death by a lady in Illinois where we found him in April 2006. When anyone gets near his owner he becomes very protective unless he knows you. Rich had a massive stroke just before we got Corky and he has taken on the roll of ""protector"" to his diabled owner. He makes sure Rich gets safely whereever he goes in the house, one step behind him all the way, stands guard at the door if he is in the bathroom, watching that he is safe. Rich walks with a walker very slowly, but Corky never leaves his side. Of couse this 9 lb dog isn't going to do much, but he thinks he will and might if the person was going to harm Rich. It is amazing how a dog can sense the disabled and become their protector. These dogs are wonderful, it is a shame more people do not adopt from the shelters. Of course both my dogs are spayed/neutered !!! |
