Reported by: Lindsey McCollough Harlie was 5yrs old when she came to my mom and needed a new home. The lady who surrendered her said that she felt that Harlie needed a new home, someone who could care for her better then she could. She was timid and a bit dirty so task number one was a bath and a hair cut. The first time I saw her, it was love! Ryan thought she was ugly and for a while, he continually told me no that we couldn’t have her. After several lunch trips with Harlie and he giving Ryan lots of kisses he called me one night and told me to bring her home.Harlie came to us with a bag of about 10 different medications. She is black and when we got her, her front was bleached brown from one of the medications that her previous owner had been putting on her. We were given a list of things that she was allergic to among them was beef, chicken, rawhide, and a number of shampoos. We were also informed that she had been poisoned 3 times by neighbors. Upon taking her to the vet, we were told that she didn’t need any of the medications that she was on and that all we needed to do for her was bath her with medicated shampoo because she has a skin condition that is common in the Shih-Tzu breed. We also came to find our that she really wasn’t allergic to anything, she just has the hot spots sometimes and that’s it.It took Harlie a little bit to warm up to everyone but once she did, she had a blast running around out in the yard and playing with us. She is now Ryan’s little girl. For someone who didn’t want her at first, they are now inseparable. She has been a blessing to us ever since she came to our home. ![]() |
