The Jasper County Sheriff's Department has a few new junior deputies on the force.

Almost a dozen kids participated in the 1st annual Junior Sheriff’s Deputy Academy.

  The kids learned about the different aspects of being a sheriff's deputy.

  Their favorite demonstration included learning about the K-9 division.

  They said these dogs are a lot different than their pets at home.

  A graduation ceremony for all the kids was held this evening.

  The sheriff's department will ask for the cadet’s help throughout the year at county fairs, parades and K9 demonstrations.
