History of Cockerill Schools
District No. 100, Crawford
County
The Cockerill School district No. 100 was in existence as early as
1882 according to data found in a Kansas History book published by A.T.
Andreas, Chicago,
in 1883. First recorded information to
be found as to teachers began in 1889 and first information on school census in
1909. District No. 100 was then known as
the Fairview School and it was contained in a one-room school building which
stood north of the building known as the Rockin’ K Saloon.
