Dr. Melissa Y. Brown
Dr.
Melissa Brown graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in St. Louis, MO
in 2000. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of North Dakota
in Grand Forks, ND and received her bachelors of Science
degree in 1995. She received her certification in the treatment and management
of ocular disease in December 1999. This allows her to use diagnostic and
therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and to prescribe medications for diseases
that are related to the eye. Dr. Brown has been associated with the group since
January 2003. Dr. Melissa Brown is currently a member of the Missouri
Optometric Association, secretary/treasurer of the Southwest Missouri
Optometric Society, Heart of America Contact Lens Society, and the American
Optometric Association. Dr. Brown is a member of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce
and is a past alumnus of the Leadership Joplin class of 2004. She was a member
of the Beta Sigma Kappa chapter International Optometric Society in April 2000.
Dr. Brown was born in the community of Valley City,
ND, 60 miles west of Fargo, ND.
She attends the First Baptist Church of Webb City. Her spouse, Dr. Lance Brown,
is also an optometrist who went back for further medical education and now
practices ophthalmology at Regional Eye Center
in Joplin. Any
free time is quality time devoted to their 3 young children.
