Southwest Missouri Man Faces Rape Charges in Two Counties

JOPLIN, MO--- Dakota Gunter, 21, was bound over for trial on a single count of forcible rape and four counts of forcible sodomy of a 22-year-old woman on or about September 21st, at a home in Granby. Jasper County Court records indicate that Gunter was also charged about six months previously with raping a 20-year-old woman in Joplin. Gunter was arrested for that charge but posted $5,000 bond and was released from custody.

Gunter is now being held in the Newton County Jail on $50,000 bond. His initial trial appearance in Newton County is set for December 10th. He is also due in Jasper County Court on that same date, with trial set to begin February 5th of next year.
