JOPLIN, MO.--- City leaders welcomed Michael Wade today as the new assistant finance director to the City of Joplin. Today was Wade's first day on the job, he spent most of it looking over financial reports and getting acquainted with the city's budget.

Wade will work with finance director Leslie Jones to manage accounting and finance, and other daily operations in the department.

"I went into retirement down here in Joplin and they needed some help, so they recruited me to come up there and help them out and then this position came open and I really thought it was a good opportunity to help out in my own community," states Michael Wade, Assistant Finance Director.

Before taking this position Wade served as the city treasurer for the City of Nevada. Prior to that, he worked as the finance director at the City of Belton Missouri for 11 years.
