JOPLIN, MO-- Local authorities are reminding residents it's a good idea to register storm shelters. Joplin and Jasper County are now adding storm shelter locations to their emergency response databases. So, in the event of a major storm, emergency workers would know which properties have a shelter - giving them a location to look for survivors.

Joplin Emergency Preparedness Director Keith Stammer says,"Specifically we'd like to know your name, your address, what type of shelter you have. Were exactly it's located on the property. Your contact number. Just the basic things."

You can register in Joplin by clicking here, and for Jasper County by clicking here.
