NEVADA, MO.--- The Nevada-Vernon County Chamber Of Commerce reports a big jump in memberships. Membership numbers grew by 70% over the last year.

The executive director says that's both from new businesses and ones from out of the area. While they're pleased with the growth in 2012, they want to expand those numbers even more in 2013.

"The more members that a chamber has, the bigger voice we have. It helps on legislative issues. It helps carry a lot more weight," said Gina Ensor, Nevada-Vernon County Chamber Of Commerce.

The director expects more growth because of the I-49 designation.
