According to the CDC, 1 in every 3 deaths is from heart disease and strokes. That's equal to 2,200 deaths per day. Supporters in Joplin say eating healthy and exercising can lower the number.
"I'm very passionate about bringing awareness of cardiovascular disease and things we can do to change our lifestyle and decrease our risk," states Kim Kory, Wearing Red.
There are some easy steps you can take to lower your risk for heart disease. Don't smoke or use tobacco, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, try to eat foods low in fat, cholesterol and salt, and get a regular check up. If you would like to learn more about living healthy, click here.
