State auditor's began going through court records and documents at Pineville City Hall. They determined nearly $20,000 went missing between June 2010 and May 2012 from the court clerk's office. Receipts showed numerous traffic tickets and court fees had been paid but never deposited. The McDonald County Prosecutor's Office is trying to determine if the funds were misplaced or stolen. The prosecutor says Pineville city officials did the right thing by taking action when they did.
The prosecutor is seeking assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol with the investigation. The state auditor's office will do a follow up with the municipal court in 90 days.
