Spiva Center for the Arts Receives Donation

CARTHAGE, MO.--- A Carthage artist gives back to the community today in honor of his wife who lost her life to brain cancer. International furniture maker Larry Glaze spent 400 hours on a hand-carved walnut table during the last days of Judy's life in 2009.
He put the table up for sale at Spiva Center for the Arts and planned to donate 100% of the proceeds to local charitable organizations. The table sold for $6,000, Glaze split the proceeds among Spiva, Hope-4-You Breast Cancer Foundation, and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
Glaze says his wife played an important role at choosing who would receive the donations. "She knew I was working on this table and she really directed me what to do. She said, put it to an organization that's with cancer."
$3,000 went to Spiva and each breast cancer organization received $1,500.
