"I dispel the lies, destroy the lies, and give kids truth about all sorts of issues, drugs, suicide, bullying, crime prevention," states Phil Chalmers, Author.
Lamar school resource officer Oliver Cornell reached out to Chalmers.
"After the Newtown shooting, I felt like it was important to educate our children, our students with the knowledge of what happens and why a school shooting may occur," states Oliver Cornell, School Resource Officer.
Chalmers says his biggest message to teens is the impact their decisions can make.
"I've talked to a lot of school shooters who have killed as teenagers. Their message to the students is they really need to think about the decisions they are making because they have lasting consequences," says Chalmers.
Chalmers words stuck with high school students like junior Emie Robertson.
"Just the fact about standing up and stopping bullying and stepping up and saying what's going on," states Emie Robertson, Junior, Lamar High School.
Chalmers says it's especially important to get the message of crime prevention across to this age group.
"These kids are the ones who are going to see the warning signs. Adults and teachers, we don't live on Facebook for 6 hours every night. These kids, they do. They are around students who are talking," states Chalmers.
If you are a parent or teen and need to reach out to someone about bullying or violence, you can contact Phil Chalmers. He responds personally to his messages on Facebook and on his website.
