UPDATE: Galena Sinkhole

GALENA, KS--- The hole was 18 to 20 feet deep and 12 feet wide. Geology crew member from the Kansas Department of transportation started drilling Monday morning under the eastbound lanes of the highway to determine if there was a void under the highway. Officials say the hole was an old mining shaft and it is now stable. KDOT employees say they are filling the hole and sealing it with concrete. Filling the hole will be will be complete this afternoon.
