2012 Small Business Saturday

JOPLIN -- Saturday marked the third anniversary of "Small Business Saturday." The day was founded in 2010 by American Express to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. Nearly 100 small businesses in Joplin participated this year, including The Run Around Running Store and Hackett's Hot Wings. Business owners say when people shop local it boosts the community's economy and is crucial to their store's economic survival. Small Business Saturday takes place every year between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
