CARTHAGE, MO.--- Jasper County Commissioners and the Sheriff's Office signed an agreement to transfer funds from the county to the Southwest Missouri "Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 27." More than $23,000 will help provide food and gifts to underprivileged children or senior citizens in Jasper County. Commissioners closed out the county account in August after an issue over how funds were being spent. County leaders are happy a solution could be achieved.
"The Order of Police fits that bill. They are a 501 C8 but they are tax deductible contributions," states Norman Rouse, Jasper County Lawyer.
"Now that we've been able to achieve this prior to the actual holiday. Those children will be able to enjoy the joy of going with the deputies," states Darren Mcintosh, Fraternal Order of Police.
Officers with the FOP will be required to report an account of their spending to the county, by the end of January.
