JOPLIN, MO.--- Soul's Harbor staff member Cletis Roland has been preparing for the dropping temperatures.
"I've requested clothing, I've requested gloves, coats, pants, long johns, and socks. Ya know winter's coming," states Cletis Roland, Soul's Harbor Staff Member.
He says about 40 people are staying there and the majority of them have asked for warm clothing.
"There's been a lot of people staying here that get coats and long underwear," says Roland.
Roland says he's noticed a bigger demand for clothing with the colder conditions.
"People coming in with very little. They don't have warm clothing and need it. They come in with thin jackets on or hoodies and they need something thicker and warmer," says Roland.
Shelter director Georgia Jones makes sure those coming into Soul's Harbor are keeping warm.
"Right now, we're trying to have available as many coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and thermal underwear," states Georgia Jones, Soul's Harbor Director.
They've even gotten requests for space heaters.
'We've also seen an increase in the need for blankets, so things to keep people warm right now," states Jones.
Roland has his boots ready for the snow and to keep warm.
"Just bite down and ride it out," says Roland.
The director at Soul's Harbor says they are in most need of small and large coats as well as blankets. She anticipates more people will seek shelter there as it gets colder.
