CARTHAGE, MO.--- The Carthage Salvation Army raised $8,500 more than their intended goal for their Tree of Lights Campaign. They raised more than $102,000 through community donations and bell ringers. Lieutenant Julie Trapp says that will allow them to help pay utility and rent fees for about 25 to 30 additional families this year.
"It allows us to help more people through out social services, through our youth programs here at the Salvation Army, and it's just really neat to see that we're able to help more people because of this community," states Lt. Julie Trapp, Carthage Salvation Army.
So far this year, the Salvation Army has helped 3 families pay a total of 2,200 toward rent and utilities.
