WEBB CITY, MO.--- Webb City Parks and Recreation Department workers have been busy restoring the city's old trolley. It was purchased from a Joplin man in 2011 but has never been used because of it's poor condition.

Over the past 9 months, city employees have worked to update the trolley with new wood, windows, roof line, and extensive interior upgrades. Parks and Recreation Department leaders plan to use it to transport people to and from area events and as a shuttle between city parks.

"We're excited, it just adds a new dimension to the parks system. We are starting to improve our programming that we have in the parks now and this will allow us to add a new dimension to the many different programs we have," says Tom Reeder, Webb City, Parks and Recreation Department.

City leaders purchased the trolley for $11,000 and spent $12,000 on materials for the renovation. All restoration work was done by city workers.
