PITTSBURG, KS.--- A group of cheerleaders from the four states can now call themselves national champions. The 11-year-old and under youth team from "The Cheer Pitt" in Pittsburg won the National Cheerleaders Association All Star Competition in Dallas, Texas this past weekend.

More than 21,000 cheerleaders, from nearly 1,000 teams, representing 5 different countries were at the event. The cheer coaches say their team defied the odds to bring home the championship.

"When we walked in to the competition, there was the staff there and they told us there's like a 3% chance that you are going to win this competition," said Monica Homes, Coach, The Cheer Pitt, Owner.

The group also brought their senior team, which is made up of teens 18-and-under, ended up finishing 5th in the nation.
