Research suggests that physical activity, a healthy diet and a healthy weight can help reduce the risk of getting breast cancer or even having breast cancer come back.
In addition, diet plays a huge role for those in treatment for cancer. In our Freeman Buddy Check 16, we have details about eating well to help yourself.
To have a healthy diet, doctors say think plant based foods that doesn't mean you can't eat meat, but a heavily plant based diet will help.
"When you follow a plant based diet, vitamins, minerals cancer preventative," says Lindsey Rothrock, Dietician-Freeman Health System.The diet will also mean less fat, which can help you maintain a healthy weight and dieticians say that's very important for cancer patients and everyone. "We recommend that females keep their waist circumference below 35 men below 40...Healthy weight for them," says Amy Gibson-Bebee,F.M.P.-C/Freeman Cancer Institute Eating well will also help those going through treatment it's something that's often overlooked. And a diet rich with protein can also help cancer patients fighting extreme fatigue.
