PITTSBURG, KS - Pitt State officials announced this week that they received enough applications for Missouri to begin making collegiate license plates with a Kansas school's mascot on them. PSU is the first university in Kansas to get an official plate in Missouri, a process that has been quite rigorous.

"We submitted our application and that required a list of over 200 people that would be potential plate purchasers, a fee, and then a sponsor of one of the members of the Missouri Attorney General Assembly," explained Johnna Schremmer, Dir. of Alumni and Constituent Relations. Pitt State is the first university in Kansas to get an official plate in Missouri. It's the result of years of planning, and numerous requests from PSU grads living in Missouri.

The alumni relations department has been discussing this possibility since 2007.

"We knew it would be a great thing for the university because it raises money for the university," said Schremmer. "It also gets that gorilla out there which markets the university, and helps us recruit students, she added."

The first plates are being made now and you can order them through The Pittsburg State University Alumni and Constituent Relations Department. For those who have already ordered, they will be ready in the next three months.
