CARTHAGE, MO.--- Friends of the Foundation at Mccune Brooks presented Bright Futures Carthage with a check worth nearly $13,000 to support their food backpack program. It provides students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program with meals and snacks for the weekend. Last year about 150 students were enrolled in the program.

"We're expecting more than we had last year because of the economy as it is, so we're not real sure yet what we're facing, but we're anticipating more than we had last year," Pamela Corkle, Coordinator of Bright Futures in Carthage, says.

Bright Futures Carthage is in need of donations to sustain their program all year long.
