JOPLIN, MO.---  Both Joplin Wal-Marts, Target, Best Buy, and Northpark Mall hired JPD Officers to help enforce security. A total of 21 law enforcement agents were at the locations helping prevent fights and thefts. Patrol Sargent David Lewis says this has been the first year more than 10 officers were stationed at stores for Black Friday. He adds it's a good way for stores to make sure customers stay safe during the holiday season.

"They also know that with an uniformed officer it's different than a security because we can actually take enforcement action when security a lot of times can't do anything other than call the police," states Sergeant David Lewis, Joplin Police Department.

Sergeant Lewis says they plan to continue providing officers to stores next year.
