JOPLIN, MO.--- Not even the rain could stop job seekers today.
"If it was snowing, if it was storming, I would probably still come out," states Crystal Wilson, Job Seeker.
Crystal Wilson and Kenneth Sullivan were some of the first people in line for Jobfest 2013.
"I just wanted to get in early and get the first shot I guess," states Kenneth Sullivan, Sarcoxie Resident.
Leaders of the Workforce Investment Board of Southwest Missouri hosted their 2nd annual job fair at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.
"Jobfest is the largest hiring and resource event all over," states Troy Roland, Workforce Investment Board.
The event attracted 60 employers including Empire District Electric, Crowder College, and Arvest Bank.
"All those in the hospitality industry, the telecom industry, the utilities industry all are represented right there with the financial industry," says Roland.
Arvest Bank Human Resources Manager Diane Smith says normally she stays in her office all day, but this gets her out.
"I look at the applications as they come in on the website, and this gets us in front of their faces where we can visit them," states Diane Smith, Human Resources Manager, Arvest Bank.
Whether people were interviewing or looking to fill an open position, it was all for one purpose.
"The goal is to match job seekers with employers and get people hired. To better the community, the more people working, the better the community," says Roland.
14 more employers attended this year's Jobfest than in 2012.
