JOPLIN, MO-- The run takes place on May 18th and consist of a half marathon, 5k, and kids run. Along with new shirts and award designs, the Joplin Memorial Run will also have Hydration Stations for runners to get water, Gatorade, and encouragement; Hydration Station sponsors can also enter a win-a-theme competition. The winner will receive a $200 prize.

The run was established in the wake of the tornado. The event also raises money to help out local charities.

"This event is to help people realize, that Joplin, we're united, we're coming back, we're regrowing, we're here for each other, we remember the people that were killed, we remember the people that were affected," says Ruth Sawkins, Race Director.

The committee encourages individuals to register by March 15th. You can find more information at http://joplinmemorialrun.com/
