Filling out these forms is especially important for seniors since many are living on a fixed income and could use the extra boost from the refund.
"They can benefit from it because they are actually getting some money back generally," says Janice Jones, Community Education coordinator with the Area Agency on Aging. "The way that it's set up is that it's for low income seniors so that can be really valuable for a lot of folks," Jones adds.
Area Agency on Aging tax experts will visit different senior centers throughout Southwest Missouri offering this service. You can also come in to their main office at 531 E 15th Street in Joplin for help with personal property tax and renters credit assistance forms on weekday mornings. For a list of specific times a tax professional will be on hand to help, you can contact their office at (417) 781-7562.
