MIAMI, OK--- Harvey Morris is a loyal NEO football fan.
"I got enthused about 35 years ago," states Harvey Morris, NEO Football Fan.
He's been rallying behind the team despite almost a decade long losing streak. Now he's thrilled the Norsemen are headed to a Championship Bowl Game, for the first time since 2005.
"It feels wonderful. I'm really excited about it because I love NEO football," states Morris.
He also loves NEO's head football coach for turning the program around in just 2 seasons.
"Dale Patterson. He's the number one coach. He really knows how to win football games," states Morris.
"I've been coaching for 44 years and this is probably one of the most rewarding seasons that I've had," states Dale Patterson, NEO Football Coach.
Patterson says the player's leadership is what made the program regain success.
"The sophomores said "We want to win." and we set out a plan and we called it DEA, discipline, effort, and attitude," states Patterson.
The plan paid off. Ending the season with a 9-2 record. Patterson also thanks his assistant coaches for the great season.
"I'm really proud of them. The effort that they put it. They're the ones that do the work. I'm just kind of the cheerleader," states Patterson.
As for Harvey, he's hoping NEO takes the championship title on Sunday when they play against College of Dupage. He says a lot is riding on this game.
"You know people like to follow a championship team. The community follows it and then the recruits come along," states Morris.
Kick off is at 1 p.m. at Pittsburg State's Carnie Smith Stadium.
