NEOSHO -- Hundreds of people showed up for the 12th Annual Christopher Foundation Gospel Celebration at the Neosho First Baptist Church Saturday night. The free event featured a silent auction, gospel music and a chili feed. All proceeds from the auction and donations go to the Christopher Foundation, which is then used for scholarships, Make-A-Wish Foundation winners and other needs for children battling cancer. Organizers say they never set a fold for how much money to raise, but are hopeful to surpass last year's amount of nearly $10,000.

"We'd just really like to thank the community and all the people who support us because without them, none of this would be happening, and we wouldn't be able to help the kids," says Christopher Foundation spokesperson Cathy Cooley.

The next event for the Christopher Foundation will be making and collecting Easter baskets for Children's Mercy Hospital.
