Wedding Place Settings
There are so many things a bride can do herself to make her wedding special and add her own touch. The easiest and least expensive way is to customize the place settings for the reception. The elements we are working with are: place cards, favors, napkin rings, small centerpiece, and candles. I have planned three different themes to work with.
Formal: The colors I chose for this theme are gold, black and ivory. This would be an evening wedding full of elegance. The small special touches of the place settings are what make this theme stand out.
Place card: I cut a 2”x6” piece of gold card stock. I also cut a piece of embossed ivory cardstock the same size. I used an edging punch to put a small cut out detail from the ivory cardstock. I then put both pieces together using a black eyelet. I laced gold ribbon through the eyelet. The top piece would have the name for the place card. The gold piece would have the menu listed for the evening. You may decide to adhere the menu using a separate piece of paper on the gold paper.
Favor: I used black card stock with a gold paper cut to a 6”x6” square. The black is placed on top of the gold so that the gold shows on the outside. Roll the paper to make a cone. Use double sided tape or a staple to hold the cone shape. I then used a wide ribbon to cover the seam. I placed the candy in a bag and tucked it into the cone.
Napkin Ring: I just used a piece of gold wired garland with stars to wrap around the rolled napkin.
Candle: I put gold marbles into an ivy bowl. Be careful to slide the marbles in the avoid breaking the bowl or the marbles. Set a tea candle in the marbles. Wrap ribbon around the top of the ivy bowl and hot glue a flower of your choice.
Centerpiece: Simple can be elegant. I used a simple bud vase and used the same marbles as the candle. I then inserted one spectacular magnolia as the flower.
Romantic: I choice the colors pink, silver and white for this theme. Nothing says romance to me more than roses, so those were the flowers I selected for this theme.
Place card: Just insert the card into an elegant silver frame.
Favor: I made a toussie moussie for the center of the charger plate. Make a small bouquet of pink roses. Wrap a paper doily or some lace around the base of the bouquet. Then make a small bow of silver and pink ribbon.
Napkin ring: Hot glue a few pink roses to a length of ivy garland. Then wrap the garland around a rolled napkin.
Candle: I used a champagne flute to hold a gel candle. Instructions for this candle can be found in Michael’s Book of Arts and Crafts. Wrap the stem in ivy and pink roses.
Centerpiece: Make a small arrangement of pink roses in a white pot or bowl. Keep the flowers close to the bowl and each other. Use the rose leaves around the bottom of the bowl.
