PINEVILLE, MO---Prosecutor Jonathan Pierce says people are using the household products as a drug. The results can be physically harmful to the user and cause them to do dangerous things they wouldn't normally do. Deputies with the sheriff's office are doing regular compliance checks of stores where bath salts are sold. Normal bath salts are legal, but there are tampered versions that have tested positive for cocaine. Authorities say possession of the illegal bath salts could mean a prison sentence of up to seven years.  Those attempting to distribute the product could face up to 15 years.
