CARTHAGE, MO.--- The Jasper County Assessor's Office mailed out the 2013 tax assessment sheets to residents today. Assessment sheets for business and personal property must be received by the county by March 1st to avoid penalties. County officials say taxpayers should take time to fill out the forms correctly to avoid overpaying in taxes.

"That was a concern this year, they are not marking through what they no longer had on January 1st," states Connie Hoover, Jasper County Assessor.

You can return the assessment to the courthouse in Carthage by mail or in person. The assessors office is open Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
