JOPLIN, MO.--- Today is National Hugging Day. A competition was held at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Fraternities with Kappa Sigma and Kappa Alpha decided to see who they could hug the most in 5 minutes.

They discovered there are several varieties of hugs. Those include the "side" hug. The "bro" hug where you pat your buddy on the back, and the "linger" hug where you stay a bit longer than you should.

"It's doing something nice a day for somebody. Like holding a door open or giving them a hug. It'll brighten their day," says Stephen Sisk, Hugger.

The winner was Kappa Sigma with 35 hugs in 5 minutes. Kappa Alpha had 18.
