MIAMI, OK.---- While addressing issues like gas prices, taxes, and the economy, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin emphasized the importance of raising awareness of prescription drug abuse.

The governor stated that 81% of drug related deaths in Oklahoma are caused by prescription drugs, and she made it clear that number is unacceptable.

"One survey shows that nearly 81% of Oklahomans are abusing prescription drug pain killers. That's twice the national average, and we're better than that," said Governor Mary Fallin, Oklahoma.

The governor has proposed new funding to help strengthen prescription drug abuse treatment centers.
