JOPLIN, MO.--- Roughly 300 Joplin High School students met for a day of seminars and team building games at "The Gauntlet" event.

J.H.S. juniors and seniors hosted the program to help freshmen learn the ropes of high school and re-enforce good decision making skills.

Throughout the day, students rotated through 11 different stations where they competed in educational games and heard inspirational messages from guest speakers.

"We believe that the freshman can learn from other peoples mistakes and avoid making those mistakes themselves, and so that's what this day is about," said Tobin Schultz, Link Crew Coordinator.

The event was put together by the J.H.S. chapter of "Link Crew," a national high school peer mentoring program that focuses on the high school transition and academic success.
