JOPLIN - Even though the school year just ended, some Joplin students are preparing for summer school.

Administrators expect about 2,000 students from elementary to high school to enroll.

Only special education students will have transportation, but all students will receive a free breakfast and lunch.

The summer session allows elementary students to focus on core schoolwork while older students can make up classes.

"It's a remediation or credit recovery [for] students who've fallen behind on credits," Jason Cravens, Director of Instructional Services, says. "It's a great opportunity for them to get in there and make up some credits toward graduation."

Classes run June 4th to June 29th.
